Excerpt from Divine Mercy in My Soul by Saint Faustina Kowalska (the words Jesus Christ spoke to her):
Write: I am Thrice Holy, and I detest the smallest sin. I cannot love a soul which is stained with sin; but when it repents, there is no limit to My generosity toward it. My mercy embraces and justifies it. With My mercy, I pursue sinners along all their paths, and My Heart rejoices when they return to Me. I forget the bitterness with which they fed My Heart and rejoice at their return.
Tell sinners that no one shall escape My Hand; if they run away from My Merciful Heart, they will fall into My Just Hands. Tell sinners that I am always waiting for them, that I listen intently to the beating of their heart… when will it beat for Me? Write, that I am speaking to them through their remorse of conscience, through their failures and sufferings, through thunderstorms, through the voice of the Church. And if they bring all My graces to naught, I begin to be angry with them, leaving them alone and giving them what they want.
Romans 8:17 (NIV):
“Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
I have started making the habit everyday of saying something like this quick prayer, “Lord, I surrender to Your Will. Let Your Will be done.”
A lot of the things we see as hinderances, or annoyances, or bad things (situations, people in our lives, etc.) in our lives are actually the things God is using for our benefit. Unless you keep your eyes open to this, you might accidentally complain about the path to the blessings God is preparing for you.
To give an example: the world sees suffering as a bad thing. Many are against God because of all the suffering in the world, not realizing that suffering and death are a result of sin (which didn’t come from God) and is meant to lead to repentance. And then that suffering when combined with repentance leads to our glory in Christ Jesus. God uses something that seems bad right now, to lead to our eventual glory in Him.
It is important to surrender to the Will of God in every area of your life you are able – preferably them all. Give all your trials and suffering to the Lord, do all work like you are serving in His Name, even everyday mundane tasks, and share your rejoicing and joy and love with Him. Serve everybody as though you were serving the Lord. Afterall, we were all created in His image. We are quick (speaking of myself more than others), to turn our anger and frustrations into complaints. Complaining is not surrender to His Will. It is resistance.
To surrender to His will is to do everything in love and in faith. Never neglect or undervalue even the smallest amount of love. Never look down on even the smallest amount of faith in Christ. As I was typing this I just had this strange thought that somehow love keeps the whole universe together and faith sets it in motion to serve God’s will.
Thank you for reading! God Bless.
