Jesus Christ has told us plainly what He is: God is love (1 John 4:8). People underestimate just how important this is. Can you imagine the terror of reality and our lives if God was not love? Some might think this world tells us that God is not love, but God is not like the world (1 John 2:15-17) and tells us not to be (Romans 12:2).

God loves us all very deeply – enough to lay down His life for us – and has commanded us to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34-35). How great is it that God should love us on a personal level, despite our sins against Him. How great is it that He should command us to love one another and to care for one another. If everyone cared for their neighbor, this world would be a much better place.

How far should love go? God has also commanded us to love our enemies, just as He does (Matthew 5:44). Just as, while we were God’s enemies, He sent His Son into the world to lay down His life to save us (Romans 5:8-10). Wherever love lives, I believe God is there and that He is with whoever it lives in.

Here is my personal testimony to what I have witnessed in my own life: I was lying in bed one night and a man’s voice came to me, and when He spoke, I recognized this voice as being love itself. I recognized Him in ways I have never recognized anyone in my entire life. He was a man, and this man was love — and I believe this was Jesus Christ, the Son of God, speaking to me. I won’t write what he said to me, because this is a post for another day.

Several years later, I was also lying in bed, and I felt a massive surge of pure love wash over me from head to toe. I believe this also came from Jesus Christ and that He was restoring the love I had lost in my life. It was such an overwhelming feeling of pure love.

Bless you for reading; God loves you!
