What should happen when we turn to Jesus Christ? Should our lives get easier, and all our plans and dreams come to fruition? Should we be blessed beyond measure? We are – and the moment we turn to Him too – but maybe not in the way people are thinking. You will probably not be blessed with excessive material possessions and be happy-go-lucky all the time. In fact, God’s Word are against both of these things while we are in the world (Luke 6:25; Luke 12:15; Luke 6:20). Yet you are blessed in having Him (who is greater than the world) in your life.
What I have found is that life can get even harder when you turn to Him. Many times, things start to go wrong when you first believe – and I think in part, this is God disciplining and testing us (Proverbs 3:11-12; Proverbs 17:3), and it is in part the devil tempting us and trying to get us to turn away from Him (1 John 5:19; Matthew 13:19).
God has said that we must suffer with Him if we want to share in His glory (Romans 8:17) and we do this because we are looking to what is unseen (2 Corinthians 4:18) and proving our faith to be genuine (1 Peter 1:6-7). We must live for the life to come, which is greater – not our current life.
God won’t deliver us from all our struggles, but He will help us in them if we ask Him (Hebrews 7:25). He will deliver us from the evil one who rules the current age (John 17:15). While we may face challenges, Jesus Christ is faithful to help and save us.
